How it works?

PeriMenoFriend® is a plant-based formula of botanicals, vitamins and minerals for the years before periods stop. It contains evidence-based doses of clinically-backed ingredients for hot flushes, night sweats, broken sleep, brain fog, low mood, aching joints and the changes in skin and cycle that arrive alongside them.

Perimenopause isn't a single event, and neither is the response to it. Women in our studies who rate it most highly have been taking PeriMenoFriend® for three months or more.

Hormone balance and hot flushes

Perimenopause isn't a steady decline in oestrogen. It's a fluctuation - levels swing high and low, often within the same week, and it's the swings rather than the decline itself that drive the symptoms.

PeriMenoFriend® provides phytoestrogens from six botanicals, led by red clover. These are plant compounds shaped closely enough to oestrogen to interact with the same receptors in the body, though far more gently. They bind to one of the two oestrogen receptor types, which is why their effect is subtle rather than systemic.

Pooled results from twelve clinical trials found women taking red clover isoflavones had fewer hot flushes. Sage has been used for centuries specifically for sweating, and in one clinical study, hot flushes became steadily less frequent across eight weeks. Hormone balance was the most improved area reported by women in our own study.

Mood, anxiety and emotional resilience

The mood changes of perimenopause are not imagined. Oestrogen influences serotonin and GABA - two of the systems that regulate emotional balance - so when oestrogen fluctuates, mood fluctuates.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that helps modulate the body's stress response rather than sedating it. In one study of 100 perimenopausal women, eight weeks of taking ashwagandha reduced menopause symptom scores against placebo. Shatavari works in a similar way and has been used in Ayurvedic practice for women's health for centuries.

Magnesium supports the nervous system and psychological function, and magnesium levels fall under sustained stress, so it's important to support through perimenopause. For additional magnesium support, we recommend our Magnesium Glycinate, 300mg.

Brain fog and mental clarity

Brain fog is the single most common perimenopause symptom. In our survey, more women reported brain fog than reported hot flushes, and when asked which symptoms were hardest to live with, brain fog ranked above hot flushes and night sweats.

There are oestrogen receptors throughout the brain, particularly in the hippocampus, which handles memory and word-finding. Phytoestrogens in PeriMenoFriend® provide support for oestrogen as it fluctuates, which in turn helps address brain fog and memory coming and going.

Vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 provide daily support for psychological function and are involved in making the neurotransmitters the brain uses to think clearly. Vitamin B5 addresses mental performance specifically.

Sleep and winding down

Broken sleep in perimenopause can come from being woken up with night sweats, and the drop in progesterone which has a naturally calming effect, makes it harder to fall back asleep.

Lemon balm has a long history of use for sleep. In a placebo-controlled study, 87% of people taking it reported their sleep improved, against 30% on placebo. Hops have been used for restless nights for generations, and are a source of the most oestrogen-like plant compound yet identified in the botanical world.

Magnesium helps the muscles and nervous system relax, which is why it is commonly taken in the evening. If sleep is your client's main concern, they can take both capsules in the evening.

Energy, tiredness and thyroid

Fatigue in perimenopause can be caused by multiple factors - disrupted sleep, fluctuating hormones, stress, and the extra cognitive load leading to feelings of exhaustion.

Vitamin B12, vitamin B6 and magnesium all fuel energy. B vitamins are water-soluble, and the body can't store a surplus so they need replacing daily, which is part of why consistency matters more than dose.

Thyroid problems become more common in midlife and can contribute to several symptoms with perimenopause, including fatigue, weight changes, and low mood. Selenium and the iodine in sea moss both support a healthy thyroid function.

Bones, muscles and joints

Oestrogen protects the bones and as it declines through menopause, bone is broken down faster than it's rebuilt, and the sharpest loss in bone density happen in the years around the last period, which makes perimenopause the most important window for investing in bone health.

Vitamin D3 is essential for the body to absorb calcium, and Vitamin K2 then activates the proteins that bind that calcium into bone. The two work together and if your client needs extra support for bones, we recommend our Vitamin D3 & K2.

Joint aches are a common perimenopausal symptom due to declining oestrogen which has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps maintain the cartilage and connective tissue in the joints. As oestrogen declines, joints can feel stiff. For comprehensive musculoskeletal support we recommend OsteoFriend.

Skin, hair and nails

Collagen production falls with oestrogen and around 30% of skin collagen is lost in the first five years after the final period. Thinning hair, brittle nails, and duller skin are common signs of the oestrogen decline through perimenopause.

Vitamin C is vital for the body to build collagen, while Zinc supports the constant cell renewal that skin and nails depend on, and selenium adds additional support for hair and nails.

Dryness isn't only about the face. The same thinning affects the vaginal and urinary tissues, and sea buckthorn is included for that reason. In a study of 116 postmenopausal women, three months of sea buckthorn improved the health of vaginal tissue.

Digestion and the gut

Two thirds of women in our research reported their gut health noticeably changed once perimenopause symptoms began, most often bloating, wind and constipation. For most of those women, it was daily or near-daily.

Gut bacteria include a group of organisms that help regulate how oestrogen is recirculated rather than excreted. As oestrogen fluctuates, that relationship shifts - hormones alter the gut, and the gut alters hormone levels.

Dandelion root supports digestion and the flow of bile, and has been used in European herbal practice for centuries. If digestive symptoms are prominent for your client, we recommend Gut Works® alongside PeriMenoFriend®.

66.8% reported noticeably worse gut health since menopausal symptoms began - typically starting in peri-menopause (58%). Bloating led (73%), experienced daily or near-daily by 77% of those affected. 79% reported a psychosocial consequence. Among gut-targeted supplements assessed, Gut Works® rated strongest (78.4% positive).

What This Means

It starts earlier than expected

58% first noticed gut changes in peri-menopause.

Often before menopause is formally established.

Persistent, not occasional

77% of bloating sufferers experience it daily or near-daily.

With a mean of 3.4 gut symptoms per woman affected.

The questions people
actually have!

How do I know if my client is in perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause?

Menopause technically lasts for only one day, which is the day a woman has been 12 consecutive months without a menstrual cycle. The time until this day is 'perimenopause' and the time after this day is 'postmenopause'. Perimenopause is the first stage of the menopause transition, which is the natural decline of ovarian function, where oestrogen production decreases and ovulation stops. It is a delicate period that usually begins 4-10 years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually produce less oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. 'Menopause' is the day when a woman has gone without a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months and the ovaries have stopped releasing eggs. Postmenopause is the next day after menopause and beyond.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CLIENT SHOULD TAKE PERIMENOFRIEND® OR MENOFRIEND®?

It is important to understand women that are of menopausal age are healthy adults. As such we provide nutritional products to support good health alongside a balanced diet. Our products can be taken at any age but the dietary challenges when we are older can become more important for some.

Perimenopause is the first stage of menopause that can begin 4-10 years before menopause. Menopause is when a woman has gone for a full 12 months without a menstrual cycle, so if your client is still having periods, even if irregular, they are in perimenopause. PeriMenoFriend® is formulated to support the health and wellbeing of women during perimenopause. Learn more in "How do I know if I'm starting menopause".

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERIMENOFRIEND® AND MENOFRIEND®?

PeriMenoFriend® is formulated for women going through perimenopause, which can begin 4-10 years before menopause. It is very normal to still have periods, even if they are irregular, through perimenopause. The signs of perimenopause are very similar to those experienced during menopause.

PeriMenoFriend® helps support the heightened feelings during perimenopause. MenoFriend® has been used by over 50,000 women and can also be taken through postmenopause.

What is the best perimenopause supplement?

The BBC Good Food Guide of 'Best supplements for perimenopause', published in November 2025, rated PeriMenoFriend as the 'Star Buy' and Best Supplement for Perimenopause.

Tried, tested and rated against ease of use, ingredient quality, nutrient profile, health claims, packaging, and value for money, the independent reviewers and nutritionists noted "Two neutral-tasting capsules deliver a balanced mix of botanicals, vitamins and minerals aimed at perimenopausal support. The pouch is fully compostable and reseals cleanly. With ingredients like red clover, sage and magnesium, plus key nutrients such as D3 and B12, it offers a well-rounded formula without unnecessary additives. The vegan, allergen-free approach and fair price make it an easy product to stick with every day."

CAN MY CLIENT TAKE PERIMENOFRIEND® WITH HRT?

PeriMenoFriend® supports a more comfortable perimenopause and is often taken alongside HRT, however we always recommend that your client consults their GP or healthcare practitioner before taking supplements if they're on HRT or medication.

We provide high-quality dietary supplements and foods. We cannot give medical advice. We would advise anyone to seek guidance from their GP or healthcare practitioner if there are any concerns using supplements when on HRT.

Can my client take PeriMenoFriend® with the combined pill?

We do not recommend taking PeriMenoFriend® with the combined pill due to interactions between the ingredients in PeriMenoFriend®that may affect the contraceptive pill.

Can my client take PeriMenoFriend® with the mini pill?

PeriMenoFriend® is often taken alongside the mini pill (progesterone only). There are a few minor drug-nutrient interactions with this combination so we recommend taking PeriMenoFriend® at opposite times of the day. We always recommend that your client consults their GP or healthcare practitioner before taking supplements if they're on medication, including the mini pill.

CAN MY CLIENT TAKE PERIMENOFRIEND® IF THEY’VE HAD A HYSTERECTOMY?

We always recommend that your client consults their GP or healthcare practitioner before taking supplements if they have an existing medical condition or are taking medication. A full hysterectomy often causes a person to go into surgical menopause immediately when the ovaries have been removed. It is also possible for one or both ovaries to be left intact after a hysterectomy. Ovaries are responsible for producing oestrogen and progesterone. If your client still retains their ovaries, they will experience menopause as normal.

WHAT IF MY CLIENT IS ALREADY TAKING MENOFRIEND®?

MenoFriend® works in a similar way to PeriMenoFriend®, helping regulate hormones for a comfortable perimenopause and menopause. We do not recommend taking PeriMenoFriend® and MenoFriend® together, so if your client does not feel MenoFriend® is working for them, PeriMenoFriend® can be taken as an alternative to MenoFriend®.

SHOULD MY CLIENT TAKE PMS HERO® and PERIMENOFRIEND® TOGETHER IF THEY STILL HAVE PERIODS?

We don't recommend taking PMS Hero® and PeriMenoFriend® together, because many of the nutrients are similar and provide additive doses, which isn’t necessary.

CAN MY CLIENT TAKE PERIMENOFRIEND® and MENOFRIEND® TOGETHER?

It’s not recommended to take PeriMenoFriend® and MenoFriend® at the same time. The formulas are designed to be a transition from one to the other.

Can my client take PeriMenoFriend® with coils?

PeriMenoFriend® is ok to be used alongside both the copper coils and the Mirena coil. The progesterone in the Mirena coil is metabolised through a different pathway to oral progesterone.
