Gut Works®

Gut Works®

50bn live cultures

50 billion live cultures and 6 clinically studied strains, with prebiotic inulin and psyllium husk.

  • 50 billion CFU, 6 clinically studied strains
  • Prebiotic inulin with psyllium husk
  • Supports intestinal transit & function
  • Repopulates the gut microbiome

What sets DRV+ apart

The strain matters as much as the CFU count. Most probiotics don't identify their strains at all, or they list the species but not the strain. The strain is what the research actually tested.

Gut Works® identifies all 6 strains and they are among the most extensively researched strains in the world. We feed them with inulin (from chicory root) and psyllium husk, so incoming bacteria establish themselves.

KEY FEATURES

  • 6 clinically studied strains providing 50 billion CFU to repopulate and rebalance the gut microbiome with friendly, active bacteria.
  • L. acidophilus DDS-1 (12bn), B. lactis BB-12 (12bn), L. rhamnosus LGG (8bn), L. casei UALc-03 (8bn), S. thermophilus TH-4 (5bn), L. plantarum PPLP-217 (5bn).
  • LGG and BB-12 among most researched live culture strains globally.
  • 100mg inulin, a fructan from chicory root to feed friendly bacteria.
  • 50mg psyllium husk, the seed coat of Plantago ovata, rich in mucilage, for intestinal transit and function.
  • Live cultures are heat-sensitive: keep sealed, away from heat and moisture. Take 20 minutes before or after hot food.

THE EVIDENCE

  • 95% of users find Gut Works® effective, based on our study of 146 customers.
  • Our study showed effectiveness rises from 89% in the first 2 months to 98% at 4 months or more (the extremely-effective rating nearly doubles to 59%).
  • The gradient of improvement over time is exactly what your client should expect: a gut microbiome is a population of trillions, and incoming strains establish themselves gradually rather than in a single dose. The change is cumulative, which is why it's important to take Gut Works® for at least 60 days.
  • BBC Good Food 'Star Buy' and 'Best Vegan Probiotic, 2025'.

THE BACKDROP

In our study of 811 adults, 92% reported gut health issues, with bloating most common at 81%. 97% said gut health directly affected other areas of wellbeing: energy (79%), weight (70%), mood (64%).

WHAT TO EXPECT

Take for at least 60 days. Customer ratings keep climbing out to 4 months and beyond as incoming strains establish themselves.

What is the best probiotic supplement?

The BBC Good Food Guide review of 'The best probiotic supplements 2025 - tried and tested', published in November 2025, ranked Gut Works as a 'Star Buy' and the Best Vegan Probiotic.

Rated 5/5 and tested for taste, flavour, active ingredients, formulation, value for money and clarity of instructions, the independent reviewers said "Easy to take and featuring a neutral flavour with no noticeable smell, this DRV+ probiotic supplement offers a blend of six well-known probiotic strains, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species, alongside prebiotic inulin and psyllium husk. Each capsule delivers an impressive 50 billion CFU, which have a delayed release to help protect bacteria through the stomach. The formula is vegan, allergen-free and comes in a recyclable pouch. While claims reference clinical studies, more transparent evidence for the specific formulation would be reassuring. A 60-day money-back policy adds peace of mind."

When is the best time to take your Gut Works® gut health supplement?

Gut health supplements should be taken at least 20 minutes before or after hot food or drinks and ideally on an empty stomach. Probiotics are extremely sensitive to heat, which is why it's important to take them well before or after any hot food or drink. Your client can take their Gut Works® capsule at any time of day.

Also remind your client to store the pouch and refillable pill tin in a cool, dry place and away from warm air, moisture or direct heat.

How should my client store their probiotics?

Probiotics are very sensitive to heat and warm air, so keep the pouch away from any warm air or moisture, including radiators, steam from a kettle or showers in a bathroom. If at all uncertain, store in the fridge if it is frost-free.

Can probiotics and Gut Works® be taken over the long term?

This is a common question about probiotics. Whilst there can be some exceptions to this rule, the general answer is yes, it’s safe and often recommended to take probiotics daily to keep the gut microbiome healthy.

Can children take Gut Works®?

Although our supplements are formulated for adults, Gut Works® is safe for teenagers and older children, subject of course to the child being of average size and weight for their age. Gut Works® is a high-strength probiotic, so we would advise for a child under the age of 13 to look at a child-friendly probiotic.

Should my client take gut health supplements?

Gut health supplements can be helpful if your client is experiencing symptoms like bloating, irregular bowel movements, food intolerances or frequent digestive discomfort. They can also be beneficial if they’ve recently taken antibiotics, have high stress levels or want to support their immune system. Supplements work best alongside a balanced diet rich in fibre, diverse plant foods and adequate hydration. If their gut symptoms are persistent or severe, it’s worth checking for underlying conditions before starting a supplement.

What do gut health supplements do and how do they work?

Most gut health supplements, like probiotics, prebiotics or digestive enzymes work by supporting the balance of the gut microbiome or helping the body break down and absorb food more effectively. Probiotics introduce beneficial bacteria, prebiotics feed those bacteria so they thrive, and digestive enzymes assist in breaking down proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Together, they can improve digestion, support nutrient absorption, reduce bloating and enhance overall gut function.

What does lactobacillus do in the gut?

Lactobacilli bacteria live in our digestive, urinary and genital systems and can be found in fermented foods such as yoghurt. Different strains of Lactobacilli bacteria support different functions in the body. Discover more about the most common strains of live cultures.

Which lactobacillus is best for gut health?

Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus plantarum. You can find all 4 of these strains in Gut Works® along with Bifidobacterium Lactis, Streptococcus Thermophilus, Psyllium Husk powder and Inulin.

How to increase bifidobacterium in the gut?

Bifidobacterium bacteria live in our intestines as lactic acid bacteria and can also be found in fermented foods.

Is inulin good for gut health?

Inulin is a gut-friendly fibre that helps friendly, active bacteria in the gut to grow. Inulin is a 'prebiotic', and prebiotics are vital to the health of probiotics.
